Synopsis

‘Imagine taking an epic journey through an exquisite miniature world made entirely of paper. A world perceived at scale where paper skyscrapers tower above you and paper forests stretch into the distance. Now imagine what it would be like to be reduced down to the size of a Borrower and inhabit such a world, to interact with it, move through it alone and at your own pace and discover a story’.

This is the synopsis Studio McGuire came into a Forge: Discovery Session with, and so began an incredible day-long workshop, helping them realise their dream for the first time and informing the next crucial steps on their XR project journey.

Approach

These discovery sessions in The Forge continue to amaze us and our clients, at how planned results and happy accidents are possible in such a short length of time.

Over the course of the session we were able to scan Studio McGuire’s incredible papercraft worlds and bring both performer (using motion capture) and immersive visitor (in our freeroam VR volume) into the Worlds to explore, interact and discover new story possibilities, techniques and direction.

Client Testimonial

“Actually putting the headset on and walking through the world we’ve built in VR, the paper world, was literally like entering our paper diorama and walking through it. So that was really exciting to see and to see what is possible. What actually needs to change and to be able to actually have a big space.”

“We’ve come up with so many ideas for projects, just from what we’ve seen today.”
